Established neighborhoods just north-east of Memphis, many with a fence, deck or shed out back that the weather has been working on. The backyard shed in our before-and-after photos is in Bartlett.
Germantown’s neighborhoods are full of brick homes, where the outside work is often trim, soffits, shutters, doors and garage doors rather than whole walls. If your neighborhood association reviews exterior colors, bring the approved colors to the walkthrough.
From the older homes around the historic Town Square to newer subdivisions further out. Older wood trim near the Square usually needs more scraping and priming; newer subdivisions often have color rules, so have the approved colors in hand.
A fast-growing town in the north-east of the county, where most homes are newer. In a newer house the usual reasons to paint are a color change, walls that scuff too easily, or cabinets that no longer suit the kitchen.
Lake neighborhoods and many newer homes along I-40 in north-east Shelby County. Homes near the water or under heavy tree cover see more mildew on siding and trim, which is washed off before any painting.
